The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception began feeding the hungry over thirty years ago in an effort to address the issue of hunger many downtown residents were facing. Since that time, much has changed including expansion of services offered at the Cathedral to include a weekend hot lunch program, Emergency Assistance, a breakfast program and a change in the name of the social services ministry from Cathedral Social Services to Morning Glory Ministries. The addition of our new breakfast program has more than doubled the number of guests served each week. In 2017, we served over 80,000 meals and helped over 5,000 neighbors with Emergency Assistance.
With the help of our wonderful volunteers, Morning Glory Ministries attempts to focus on its mission and ease the burden of the marginalized individuals in our society through all three of the ministries offered: Morning Glory Cafe, Hospitality House and Emergency Assistance.
The insipration of the name Morning Glory Ministries came from God`s great glory and compassion, which is new to us all each morning as evidenced through the beauty of each new sunrise.
